The southeast corner of 10th and F Streets, NW in Washington, D.C., contains an outstanding collection of mid- to late-19th century commercial buildings located on the same block as the infamous Fords Theater where President Abraham Lincoln was shot in 1865.
In 2002, Powers & Company, Inc. was retained by the project architect to assess the physical condition of the following buildings: 920, 922, 926, 930, 938, 940 and 942 F Street. The architectural styles represented in this collection include the Italianate, Richardsonian Romanesque, Second Empire and Queen Anne styles. The buildings display a variety of materials, including stone, terra cotta, brick, and stucco.
